In that fair city man is dumb,
The joys are far too much for him.
And sweet the word when Christ says come,
Within those portals free from sin.
How sad ‘t-would be if over there
A soul should miss that beauty rare.

Father, mother and all the rest
With cousins, uncles and a friend
Must reach that city and be blessed
Or in a hell a parting spend.
Is it not wise since God is love
To seek that city fair above?

You and I God wants should share it
His wisdom made the pretty flower
He promises that we inherit
Those spacious mansions of his power.
God grant to all of us a peek
Within that city that we seek.

Let’s lay all else on earth aside
And single eyed keep it in view
It takes our all and God beside
To find that gem forever true.
Let’s up and give God what it takes
It’s best for God and for our sakes.
We Must Not Miss
